A bit of history
Throughout my pregnancy it seemed it was always one complication after another. At about 21 weeks an ultrasound scan had detected abnormally large kidneys. The sonogram practitioner didn`t quite know what was causing this but we had to go for fetal assessments every 3 weeks at that point. Our baby had a single artery umbilical cord which is very unusual as well but again there was no major concern at this point. So leading up to our daughters birth, the only thing we asked prayer for was for her enlarged kidneys. Nothing else came up in tests or ultrasound scans. Later would we realize that there was great cause for concern. I had a very hard pregnancy and was put on bed rest but unfortunately due to our financial situation I pushed myself to work as long as I could. Our daughter wasn`t due until June 3rd, 2012, so I wasn`t thinking that working still in April would cause so many problems. I had severe high blood pressure and had been having braxton hicks contractions for about 4 weeks straight before going into labor on April 27th, 2012. Now this is where our story becomes a nightmare....
